 DENYER DARES AND WINS

Official Press Release – MINI Challenge

Grant Denyer was a jubilant winner of Round Two of the 2009 MINI Challenge at the Falken Challenge at Symmons Plains Tasmania over the weekend, narrowly edging his teammate Paul Stokell out for the points advantage.

Denyer made a critical move to pass Stokell in the dying stages of Race Three to claim second place which was enough points wise to grab the round win.
“It’s so good to go well,” grinned a delighted Denyer post race, “I wouldn’t have believed I could do this eight months ago (Denyer injured his back in a Monster Truck incident which resulted in almost a year of recuperation) but it’s a tremendous feeling to be back in good form.”
Grant’s outright win in Race 2 from 4th on the grid set up a front row battle for the final race between the Decorug team-mates with the duo identical on points – Stokell got the nod for pole position because he was faster in qualifying.

The final saw a 5 way battle between Stokell, Denyer, Chris Alajajian, V8 Supercar driver Jonathan Webb and Sydney’s Scott Bargwanna. After toughing it out for 13 laps, Grant made a last lap move on teammate Stokell at Turn 3 to take the chequered flag and round win on points.

Stokell now leads the Championship from Team Mate Denyer with two drivers tied on third place!
