Denyer “Finger Lickin” Fast in Townsville V8 Supercar DebutSeven Network’s Grant Denyer claimed another race win in Round 3 of the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Series on the new Townsville street circuit last weekend. Driving with Warren Luff, Grant also finished 4th in the MINI Challenge round for the weekend which featured a 2 driver format for the first time. KFC has joined the team for the rest of the season, with KFC signage featured on the bonnet and rear quarter panel of the Crimsafe Ford. Grant didn’t have the best qualifying run ending up 7th overall and for the first V8 Supercar race the car ran with tyre pressures well under the optimum. He struggled for race pace dropping back to 10th, before fighting back with a stunning move at Turn 11 to take 3 cars and finish in 7th. A blinding start in Race 2 had him in the lead by Turn 1 and despite 2 safety car periods, he held on for a comfortable win. For the final race, another great start saw him with the frontrunners before he was hit and turned around by Shane Price coming onto the main straight. Despite finishing 6th in the race, he had enough points to claim 3rd for the round. Grant is now sitting 4th in the Fujitsu V8 Supercar Championship and 3rd overall in the MINI Challenge Series. While in Townsville, the Crimsafe Ford was on display at Stocklands Shopping Centre on the Thursday before the race meeting, with Grant signing posters for almost 2 hours, and again on Monday at the opening of the new Just Cuts store at the Castle Town Shopping Centre. |
